About
A magazine with a fictional cast
SALOTTO is a fashion and glamour magazine. Its models are fictional: each is written as a character, a model is trained to draw her, and she appears only in the frames a person approved.
Issue one casts Mara Venn, MV-001. She is written as 29, she is nobody's likeness, and she is not a real person. Her profile, her trigger word and the pictures she was trained from are kept in the studio's record.
Issue two casts Elise Rowan, ER-002, written as 32. She is not a real person either.
Each issue starts as a brief. The pictures are generated from it on a rented graphics machine, Frederick Fritzinger reads every frame, and the ones he marks stay. The frames that came out wrong stay in the record as well.
Every picture carries the magazine's address and the words FICTIONAL, AI-GENERATED along its right edge, so a copy keeps saying what it is.
The publisher
SALOTTO is published by Frederick Design Studio, LLC, a studio in Sonoma, California, that designs platforms and tools for businesses, developers and media production studios. The magazine is the studio's own publication. The studio's site is frederickdesign.studio.
Reading
The site shows each issue's opening pages. On a wide screen the reader turns a page at a time, and on a phone the pages run in a column.
